LavAzza Crema e Gusto Espresso [pre-ground, 8.8 oz. brick]

Value: $5.47

The Bialetti Brikka espresso maker works like a traditional stove top moka pot; however, the Brikka utilizes an innovative new design that permits brewing to begin only after optimum pressure is reached. The espresso coffee produced by the Bialetti Brikka is smooth and creamy with a delicious frothy cap. The Brikka is constructed from polished aluminum with a heat resistant handle and a lid hole so that you can watch your creamy coffee bubble up into the carafe. Suitable for use on gas, electric, glass and ceramic stoves (not induction).

The key too great tasting espresso, is not to fill the basket too full with grinds, which makes for bitter tasting coffee. I find best results when the basket is only about half full.
Mixed Results
While admittedly there are a number of variables -- heat, coffee freshness, grind, etc -- after countless attempts with multiple scenarios, I was unable to achieve what I consider to be an acceptable "crema" from this model. The "shot" I get from the Brikka is drinkable, but I can get that from my Bialetti Moka Pot with a fraction of the frustration. I was looking for something closer to espresso, WITH some faux crema. Sadly, I didn't get that. Is it my technique? Possibly. But should it really be that difficult?
reliable device & good coffee
I had had mine for almost 10 years and use it every day. Highly recommended.
great coffee!
This machine makes better espresso than the local coffee bars (university town variety). Crema depends on getting water level and grind exactly right, so even if that's important to you, you might be as happy with the standard Bialetti moka pot ... unless you want exactly 2 or 4 cups. Each pot makes exactly the number of espresso cups listed -- no more, no less -- so gauge your needs carefully. Definitely best results with "moka" grind.
