Good quality at a great price.
3-month updated review: still lovin' it.
The grind for this puppy has to be "just so," or, as noted elsewhere, it's either a souoy filter basket or a plugged one. Some pre-grounds (some of the Lavazza and others) are too finely-ground. 'Turkish' won't work. Drip-grind won't work. Next step: get a burr-grinder and see what #7 ir 8 on the 10-scale yields. But as I said earlier: at least I can drink my 'mistakes.' Buy one! Lots of extras!
the total package
Bought this Cuisinart as a step up from a faithful old Krups steam- machine. Now I not only get rich crema/ schiuma, but there are so many extras included, a bag of good coffee.(Miscela D'oro). A pod-adapter and 1-cup and 2-cup inserts come with the machine. As others have noted, getting the grind'right' is necessary and might take time... but you can always drink your mistakes!! I've only had the machine just over a month (Jan2015) and am trying all kinds of coffees and adjusting the grind. The liter-sized tank is easy to refill in-place. One slight 'ouchy:' it vibrates noisily, but the coffee comes out quickly. This is a BUY! A plus: the large portafilter from my old Krups actually fits the Cuisinart and makes 4 creamy shots, double the 2-cup/ largest portafilter that comes with this whole rig... and 2extra pitchers plus a cleaning brush. Can you say "B-A-R-G-A-I-N?'
Brew quality depends on grind quality
Grind your coffee too course and you get brown water, grind your beans too fine and it plugs up the machine. I bought a new grinder and now get very good espresso. For my taste this machine works best with medium dark roast and full bodied coffees.
Good value for the money
My husband bought this machine for me for Xmas 2012. I use it every day, and think it's great. I really like that it doesn't use pods, and feel pretty cool when I make my own fresh latte the way I like it. Easy to clean, too.
Bought one in June 2009

We make 7 espressos each morning. Machine running well, no problems except frothing wand showing a few rust spots that need minor attention. Good value for a reliable espresso machine.
